SENDING STUDENTS HOME: BOT policy does not permit students within the hours of 8:00 and 4:00 to be sent home without his or her parent signing him or her out of school in person, or with parent notification for the transportation of the student by designated staff persons to the home of a responsible adult designated by the parent.
Student uniforms must be worn at all times. Students out of uniform will not be allowed in school unless they have obtained prior permission from the principal. Shoes with the foot covered must be worn at all times. We discourage students wearing footwear where their toes or other parts of the foot will be exposed because of safety issues. Sneakers or other rubberized shoes should be worn on a student's gym days.
The school discourages the wearing of jewelry other than earrings as the school cannot be responsible for the loss or the recovery of jewelry. No jewelry is to be worn on gym days.
The administration has considered the three important areas of modesty, cleanliness, and safety in determining appropriate school dress. Examples of inappropriate school attire includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Shirts, blouses, dresses, etc. that display bare back, shoulders or midriffs.
- Shirts must not hang below the student's natural/visible waistline.
- Pants must be worn at the student's natural/visible waistline.
- Long T-shirts, coats, jackets, sweaters, etc. that go beyond the waistline - not to be worn during the school day.
- Skirts and shorts should be fingertip length with the arms extended at the sides of the students. Undergarments should not be visible.
- Gang graffiti will not be drawn or worn on any backpacks, notebooks, folders, papers, clothing or any object; or any body of a student or person on school property.
- Students must wear shoes that are safe and appropriate for the learning environment. Footwear commonly considered beachwear is prohibited, including but not limited to flip-flops, beach sandals or other such beach shoes.
- Hats, bandanas, hair curlers, or other non-religious head covering.
- Coats and other outside wear are not to be worn in the classrooms; students are encouraged to bring GRAY sweaters and GRAY sweatshirts.
- Sunglasses.

***Students will need crayons, scissors, glue, and pencils for homework. It is a good idea to make sure that you have these supplies at home as well as at school.***
Children are transported via Newark Recreations (Program Director - Sgt. Zaid Braswell) van. There is a tutoring program, and students are assisted with their homework. There is also recreational time for computer work, drawing, coloring, reading, and other activities.
